My Review: London Soho New York Beauty Sponge

Hey Everyone! Today I will be reviewing the London Soho New York Beauty Sponge which I have tested out in the course of 3 months.

What is it? A sponge designed for applying face makeup and comparable to the highly praised Beautyblender, one of the most popular tools used by makeup artists on their clients, and one of the most duplicated beauty tools. Ulta, CVS, Walgreens, Target, and Sephora all carry their own dupe claiming to be on par with the results and feel of the Beautyblender. Since I do not own the Beautyblender, I cannot compare it to the London Soho sponge, but I will share the feel/finish of the London Soho sponge so those who own the Beauty Blender can make a comparison and decide whether they would spend another $20 for the Beautyblender or try out the London Soho sponge for $8.

Things To Rave About:
1) Softness/Flexibility of Sponge: This sponge literally feels like a memory foam when squeezed and wet. When you squeeze the sponge and release, the prints of your fingers will stick for around a minute and eventually fall back into shape. This means that you can shape this sponge into a whatever shape you desire for foundation application. The football shape did scare me at first, as it doesn't entirely replicate the shape of the Beautyblender, but, once wet, the sponge can be tailored with to form the desired Beautyblender shape or another design that you feel allows you to apply your makeup flawlessly.

Damp, squeezed sponge

2)Fresh Faced Look: When damp, the sponge does sheer out foundation. It doesn't erase the makeup, but rather soften caked foundation and form a more natural, skin like finish. Areas of streakiness or fake or noticeable looking application will be sheered out to hide the fact that you are wearing foundation.

3) Ease of Application: Rather than pulling out numerous brushes and buffing in product for a while, the sponge, large enough to cover more of the face than a brush, allows application to take seconds. I simply blend and then stamp the foundation into the skin, and with the surface area this sponge takes up, this procedure only lasts for seconds. When damp, the sponge will expand to an even greater size, gaining both a softer feel and a larger size to cover more of the face in less time.

Things To Rant About:

1) Stains/ Defects: No matter how many times I wash the sponge or what brush shampoo i use, the foundation stains will not go away! Of course the sponge becomes sanitary after a wash, but seeing the stain makes me think otherwise. Also, I noticed a few rips and tears in the sponge that expand with each use. Of course, I have had the sponge for 3 months, so wear and tear is expected, but I am not so sure it should be this worn out.

My Overall Rating: 8.5 / 10
