My Review: Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

Hey guys! I recently picked up the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush at Ulta for under $10.  I have seen many raves and demos all across Youtube and became immediately fascinated with the brush's unique and innovative function/look. Its revolutionary look made me curious as I have never seen a buffing brush that has the capability to smooth on foundation as well.

What is it? This brush sports an innovative look and technology that combines a foundation brush with a stippling/buffing brush for both liquid and cream foundations. It contains the capability to firstly "paint" or apply your foundation onto the skin and then perfect it with either stippling or buffing motions. Basically, it is a two in one brush!

Things To Rave About:

1) The Foundation / Paint Brush: Being flexible ( not stiff!) and having the ability to sweep foundation along the face allows application from pump to face to be flawless and time efficient with this brush. This brush allows you to dot on foundation before buffing with out using fingers or a sponge to get the foundation firstly onto the skin. Whether you choose to dip the brush into the foundation bottle or pour a drop onto the brush, the process is completely mess free and free of finger contact.What separates it from other foundation brushes? Definitely its broadness that allows you to cover more area of the face with each stroke. I contains many more bristles than a traditional foundation brush so more product can be picked up and applied.

2) Buffing/ Stippling Brush: Once foundation has been applied to fresh skin via the paint brush method, you can use a buffing motion to pack in and blend the foundation by simply turning the brush in a complete vertical position. As it is a dense brush and has a square head rather than a pointy one like other foundation brushes, either stippling or buffing motions are suitable. The bristles are not all the same size so stippling may require a bit more effort. This buffing head of the brush remains soft enough to coat the foundation in the first step, but once turned vertical, reveals the tougher and firm fibers that allow fast blending.

3) Easy Cleanup and Amazing Durability: Even despite the skunk white bristles near the top of the brush, I can easily remove any foundation stains that would cling onto other skunk brushes even after a good wash. I have not experienced any shedding despite my rough blending motions. With daily buffing and continuous  washes, one may expect some wear and tear. Surprisingly it's non existent!

Things To Rant About:
With a face of flawless makeup application, a clean and neat brush, and foundation free fingers/ counter top, it is very difficult to rant. If I do run into any concerns, I will definitely update. For now it's a great brush with no obvious cons!
